[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Electronics' top executives emphasized to employees the importance of upholding 'compliance spirit' with laws and ethics as one of the company's core values.

According to the electronics industry on the 1st, the company delivered a CEO message for the second half of the year to employees via email.

The message was written in both Korean and English under the names of Kim Ki-nam, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics Device Solutions (DS) Division, Kim Hyun-suk, President of Consumer Electronics (CE) Division, and Ko Dong-jin, President of IT & Mobile (IM) Division.

The three CEOs emphasized in the message, "There are many things to prepare to become a long-lasting company, but compliance with laws and ethics is a fundamental virtue." They added, "From the management to all employees, let us uphold the compliance spirit as one of our basic values."

They also conveyed requests to respond to external uncertainties such as the potential resurgence of COVID-19, the enactment of the Hong Kong National Security Law, and the US-China trade war.

The CEOs stated, "Let us become a company that does not waver under any shock through thorough risk management, including strengthening the SCM (Supply Chain Management) system and responding to trade issues." They urged strengthening core competencies in all areas from development to manufacturing and sales to secure a 'super-gap' over competitors.

Furthermore, to respond to the post-COVID-19 era, they urged, "Let us institutionalize scenario-based management and actively discover new growth opportunities." They explained that business roadmaps should be established based on scenarios and strategic agility should be maintained to respond to future changes.

In addition, they emphasized the need to establish clear communication and joint systems in an era where non-face-to-face collaboration is becoming important, and to build the world's best smart work platform.

They said, "We have passed half of the year amid the discomfort of masks and the hardships of social distancing," and added, "We will prioritize the safety and health of employees and overcome the crisis."
