Lotte Holdings Implements 'Dress Code Autonomy' for All Employees Considering TPO

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Lotte Holdings announced on the 1st that it will implement a dress code autonomy policy for all employees.

From this day forward, all employees of Lotte Holdings can freely wear suits, business casual, casual clothing, and more as their work attire. They can choose the most comfortable outfit considering the time, place, and situation while working. Casual clothing includes round-neck T-shirts, jeans, sneakers, and more.

This implementation was decided at the Lotte Holdings labor-management council meeting held on the 26th of last month. The goal is to increase work efficiency and create a flexible work environment through free and comfortable attire.

Currently, the autonomous dress code system is implemented by Lotte Chemical, Lotte Cultureworks, Lotte Members, and others. Lotte Holdings had encouraged business casual wear and operated a ‘Casual Day’ where only Fridays allowed autonomous dress.

Meanwhile, Lotte Holdings is proactively responding to the changing work environment due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) by encouraging changes in employees’ working methods. To this end, since May 23rd, it has been operating a work-from-home system for all employees for the first time among domestic large corporations. Employees can choose their preferred day of the week to work from home according to their department’s characteristics.

Son Hee-young, head of the Corporate Culture Team at Lotte Holdings, said, “We decided to make the dress code autonomous to break away from the existing formal and rigid atmosphere and create a creative and individuality-respecting work environment,” adding, “We expect this system to enhance members’ work efficiency and satisfaction.”
