[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT signed a business agreement on the 1st to jointly develop and commercialize smart hospital solutions with Seoul Asan Medical Center and Hyundai Robotics.

Amid the increasing importance of infection control due to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the three companies plan to collaborate based on this agreement to develop ▲untact in-hospital infection control treatment, ▲non-face-to-face real-time care (smart patient management), and ▲smart logistics management solutions.

KT will lead the development of medical DX platforms and solutions utilizing ICT capabilities such as 5G, AI, and cloud, Hyundai Robotics will establish automated facilities with robots, and Seoul Asan Medical Center will take the lead in implementing smart hospitals based on its knowledge and experience in the medical industry field. In addition, Seoul Asan Medical Center will promote a smart hospital solution demonstration project and, based on this, will carry out digital transformation projects in medical sites that require untact treatment solutions.

Jeon Hong-beom, Head of KT AI/DX Convergence Business Division (Vice President), said, “This cooperation among the three companies is the first business collaboration since the investment in Hyundai Robotics in June, and through the joint development of smart infection control solutions, it will contribute to preventing the spread of infectious diseases in medical institutions.” He added, “We will continue to promote digital transformation to prepare for the post-COVID era and contribute to changes in people’s lives and innovation in the medical industry through ICT capabilities.”

Lee Sang-do, President of Seoul Asan Medical Center, stated, “In line with the trend of a hyper-connected society that connects people, objects, data, and everything through networks, we will continuously build smart hospital systems to provide the best treatment services to patients and strive to create the safest hospital.” Seo Yoo-sung, CEO (Vice President) of Hyundai Robotics, said, “By combining Hyundai Robotics’ world-class robotics, control, and logistics automation technologies with KT’s AI and ICT technologies, we will be able to provide more advanced smart medical solutions in the healthcare field.”
