Kia Motors Launches 2021 Seltos with 'Enhanced Advanced Features'... Gravity Model Added

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Kia Motors launched the model year update of its compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) Seltos, the ‘2021 Seltos,’ on the 1st. The 2021 Seltos is newly equipped with advanced safety and convenience features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist - Junction Turning (FCA-JT), and a differentiated design element model called ‘Gravity’ has been added.

First, Kia applied the Rear Occupant Alert as a standard feature across all trims of the 2021 Seltos to enhance convenience and safety levels. Additionally, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system was expanded for the first time in its class to include detection of oncoming vehicles at intersections when making left turns, automatically assisting braking to prevent collisions.

Furthermore, the newly introduced Gravity model strengthens luxury through differentiated design elements. The Gravity model features ▲a dedicated radiator grille ▲18-inch black machined front wheels ▲metallic silver color design accents ▲and a gray interior.

The Seltos Gravity model is designed with the motif of ‘sharp edges of geometric shapes,’ characterized by the contrast between black and silver colors. The dedicated radiator grille at the front uses a hot-stamping method on a three-dimensional repeating square pattern to create a strong image. Metallic silver design accents are added to the outside mirror covers and door garnishes to enhance a sophisticated image.

Kia revised the LED signature lighting grille material from matte to glossy on the Prestige and Signature trims to increase a sense of luxury. The highly preferred 10.25-inch UVO pack is now available as an option on all trims.

The price of the 2021 Seltos 1.6 turbo gasoline model is 19.34 million KRW for Trendy, 22.48 million KRW for Prestige, 24.54 million KRW for Signature, and 25.28 million KRW for Gravity. For the 1.6 diesel model, the prices are 21.25 million KRW for Trendy, 24.40 million KRW for Prestige, 26.46 million KRW for Signature, and 27.19 million KRW for Gravity.

A Kia Motors official said, “The Seltos, which has shaken up the compact SUV market, has returned with even better product competitiveness by adding top-class safety features and upgraded design elements for its class,” and added, “The 2021 Seltos will continue to strengthen its position as a leading compact SUV in Korea.”
