GS Retail-GS Shop Establish 'Integrated Distribution Council' to Strengthen Collaboration Among Affiliates

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Retail and GS Shop have strengthened collaboration and expanded synergy between affiliates.


GS Retail announced on the 1st that it will officially launch strategic collaboration centered on the ‘Integrated Distribution Council,’ composed of product experts (MDs) from both GS Retail and GS Shop, including ▲joint development of differentiated products ▲cross-introduction of top-selling products from both companies ▲joint sourcing of overseas products and expansion of exports.


The ‘Integrated Distribution Council’ is a newly established collaborative organization created in March this year as part of building a system to broaden exchanges between the MDs of both companies and maximize integrated capabilities. Through the ‘Integrated Distribution Council,’ the two companies plan to design and present differentiated products while also focusing on creating a shopping environment where consumers can search for and purchase products from both companies across their online and offline distribution channels.


On the 2nd, the first product jointly planned and developed by the ‘Integrated Distribution Council,’ ‘GS Samgyetang 900g,’ will be officially launched. This product was specially planned in anticipation of increased interest in health foods and restorative foods due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the forecasted record-breaking heatwave, and the surge in demand for Samgyetang during the Boknal (the hottest days of summer).


GS Retail will primarily sell ‘GS Samgyetang 900g’ through offline distribution channels such as convenience store GS25 and supermarket GS The Fresh, while GS Shop will conduct a 40-minute broadcast sale on its data broadcasting channel GS My Shop starting at 3:46 PM on the 2nd of this month. The price is 9,900 KRW.


GS Retail and GS Shop plan to continue about 10 strategic collaborations within this year, starting with ‘GS Samgyetang 900g.’


Byunghoon Ahn, Executive Director of the Lifestyle Services MD Division at GS Retail, said, “GS Retail has established the Integrated Distribution Council with GS Shop to build a collaborative system that maximizes the capabilities of both companies,” adding, “GS Retail will focus on providing customers with differentiated products and a new shopping environment through active collaboration with GS Shop.”
