Relocation of Seoul Institute of Technology and Seoul Lifelong Education Center to Gangbuk-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyumsu) is exploring ways to enhance the synergy effect of academic and institutional cooperation as the Seoul Institute of Technology and the Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Institute plan to relocate to Sungshin Women's University Unjeong Green Campus (located in Mia-dong) by 2022.

So far, the district has been conducting the 'The Eroom' project with Sungshin Women's University to revitalize youth entrepreneurship and create local jobs.

The project supports all aspects of entrepreneurship, from item preparation to consulting and integrated brand promotion. Currently, it mainly focuses on the cultural and artistic fields, but with the relocation of the Seoul Institute of Technology, it is expected to expand into innovative technology platform areas such as smart cities, IT, and AI.

The ripple effects of the Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Institute's relocation are also anticipated. The institute plans to renovate the campus library into an open space accessible to residents. Once the library is reborn, it is expected to become a hub for local lifelong education by integrating programs tailored to the needs of users.

Additionally, the district expects that the institute's establishment at Sungshin Women's University will greatly contribute to the development and revitalization of content for lifelong education promotion programs led by the district, including the 'Dasan Academy.'

In particular, the 'Dasan Academy' is a humanities lecture series on the life, philosophy, and scholarship of Jeong Yak-yong, conducted jointly by the district and Sungshin Women's University as a lifelong education program.

Through Dasan's life and practical learning philosophy, it delivers practical knowledge applicable in various fields such as wisdom for modern life and economics, receiving great responses from participants.

Park Kyumsu, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "The number of Seoul metropolitan government-affiliated institutions relocating to Gangbuk-gu, such as the Seoul Talent Development Institute, the Institute of Technology, and the Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, is steadily increasing," adding, "We will utilize the new public infrastructure coming in to enhance the competitiveness of our hometown and prepare measures to serve as a foundation for regional development."
