According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 1st, three men in their 60s residing in Buk-gu tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day. They were classified as the 47th, 48th, and 49th confirmed cases in the Gwangju area.
It was confirmed that they had contact with the 43rd and 44th confirmed cases in Gwangju, including having meals at Geumyang Officetel in Dong-gu, which is presumed to be the multi-level marketing office.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the multi-level marketing office to six.
The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases since the 26th has increased to 16. Among them, 15 cases are community infections, excluding the 38th confirmed case who entered from the UK, causing tension among health authorities.
Moreover, the 46th confirmed case is known to be a caregiver at a senior welfare facility, in addition to the multi-level marketing office and Gwangneuksa Temple, which is frequented by many monks.
It was also confirmed that the confirmed cases visited university hospitals and churches, raising concerns that the spread could become uncontrollable.
Health authorities are conducting disinfection at related facilities and focusing on tracing the detailed movements and contacts of the confirmed cases.
