[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Iksan City, Jeonbuk Province, is establishing a high-intensity quarantine system by issuing administrative orders to all businesses that violate quarantine rules to block local transmission of COVID-19.

On the 30th, the city decided to mobilize enforcement measures to proactively respond to the growing concerns about community infection.

Accordingly, if facilities designated as high-risk violate quarantine rules, the city plans to immediately close the facilities through an administrative order banning gatherings.

For medium- and low-risk facilities, if they are caught violating quarantine rules three or more times during inspections, high-risk facility-level quarantine rules will be applied, and if violated more than twice, the facilities will be closed just like high-risk facilities.

Violating businesses will be fined up to 3 million won under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, and in case of confirmed COVID-19 cases, both business operators and facility users may be reported, and full compensation claims for costs may be filed.

The designated high-risk facilities include 327 locations across eight industries such as entertainment bars, karaoke rooms, and indoor group exercise facilities, while medium- and low-risk facilities include about 6,800 locations across 23 industries such as PC rooms, religious facilities, and restaurants.

Additionally, seven places including funeral homes, restaurants, and religious facilities visited by the fourth confirmed COVID-19 patient in Iksan, where contacts occurred, have all been closed.

Mayor Jeong Heon-yul said, “We made this decision because broad and proactive quarantine measures are necessary to block community transmission,” and added, “We ask citizens to strictly follow quarantine rules such as wearing masks and disinfecting to create a safe community from COVID-19.”
