On the 30th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that it newly designated eleven organizations as preliminary social enterprises this year. These include the Cultural Arts Cooperative Cheonyul, Nolmom Cultural Arts Education Research Institute, Yeongnam Seonbi Cultural Training Center, In&In Research Institute Cooperative, Korea Traditional Culture Etiquette Cooperative, Yulmok Sound-Making Village Cooperative, Social Cooperative Culture Platform With, Cultural Arts Cooperative Yesulnamu, Han Cultural Heritage, Korea Cultural Heritage Craftsmen Association, and Lian Company. They received excellent scores in evaluations of organizational structure, business execution capability, and potential contributions to the preservation and utilization of cultural heritage.
The preliminary social enterprise designation system was introduced in 2012 to discover and nurture enterprises specialized in the cultural heritage field. It encourages the creation of jobs related to cultural heritage by providing cultural services such as traditional culture education and experiences to vulnerable groups. Up to this year, fifty-eight enterprises have been designated, with seventeen certified as social enterprises. An official stated, “In the second half of the year, we plan to hold an excellent activity presentation contest to share various activities and award outstanding enterprises.” They added, “We will spare no effort in providing multifaceted support such as promotion, consultation, cooperative project development, and administrative assistance for mid- to long-term development.”
