[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, stated that the U.S. decision to revoke Hong Kong's special status has "minimal impact" on Hong Kong.

According to China's CGTN, Chief Executive Lam responded this way on the morning of the 30th at a regular press conference held in Hong Kong regarding the U.S. Department of Commerce's announcement to revoke Hong Kong's special treatment.

Lam also added, "If the Chinese government takes any countermeasures (against the U.S. actions), Hong Kong will firmly support the central government's decisions."

Hong Kong media reported that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China unanimously passed the Hong Kong National Security Law that morning, but Chinese media have not yet released related reports. When asked by reporters at the press conference about the passage of the Hong Kong National Security Law, Lam refrained from commenting, saying, "Since the meeting is still ongoing in Beijing, it is inappropriate to discuss matters in progress."
