[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 43 on the 30th.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 12,800, an increase of 43 from midnight the previous day.
The daily new confirmed cases recorded 113 over the weekend (51 cases) and holiday (62 cases), showing the largest increase since April 4-5 when there were 175 cases, but the number dropped to the low 40s starting from the previous day.
Among the 43 new cases, 17 occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area: 7 in Seoul, 3 in Incheon, and 7 in Gyeonggi. Outside the metropolitan area, cases were confirmed in Busan (1), Daejeon (5), Gwangju (3), Chungbuk (1), Sejong (1), Gangwon (1), Gyeongbuk (1), and quarantine (13).
There were 23 domestic cases and 20 imported cases. The number of patients who have recovered and been released from isolation reached 11,537, an increase of 108 from the previous day. The death toll remained at 282, unchanged from the previous day.
