[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] All four armed assailants who infiltrated the Pakistan Stock Exchange have been killed.

On the 29th (local time), according to local media and foreign news agencies, all four armed militants belonging to an armed rebel group who attacked the stock exchange in Karachi, southern Pakistan, were killed. In the process, six people including security forces and civilians also died.

Earlier that morning, the four armed assailants attempted to enter the building by firing automatic rifles at the entrance of the stock exchange. They threw grenades at the security forces guarding the building and fired shots toward the guard posts, and the security forces responded with gunfire.

Police and special forces immediately dispatched to suppress the attack. Ghulam Nabi Memon, Karachi Police Chief, stated, "The four assailants arrived in a silver car and were all killed."

The building is known to be heavily guarded and houses major financial institutions such as banks.

According to local media, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist rebel group in the south, claimed responsibility for the attack. Balochistan, bordering Afghanistan and Iran, is an area where separatist armed groups and Islamic extremist organizations frequently operate.

They have claimed that the Pakistan government and foreign entities exploit the region's resources. The BLA has carried out various terrorist attacks in southern Pakistan, including an assault on a five-star hotel in Gwadar, Balochistan Province, last May.
