Gwangju City Holds 'Innovation City Research Planning TF General Committee' Meeting

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 29th that it held the Innovation City Research Planning TF General Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hyo in the small conference room on the 3rd floor of City Hall.

The meeting was organized to conduct a mid-term review of the progress of the 2020 Innovation City research planning linkage projects and to discuss development plans for revitalizing the Innovation City, including response strategies to attract additional public institutions.

Gwangju City has formed the Innovation City Research Planning TF into five divisions?energy, culture, information and communication technology (ICT), agro-life, and transportation?to improve residential conditions in the Innovation City and discover linkage projects with relocated public institutions. The general committee is operated with members recommended by each division, department heads, and experts in related fields.

By division, a total of 14 linkage cooperation projects are being promoted: 4 in transportation, 4 in energy, 2 in culture, 2 in ICT, and 2 in agro-life. This year, the division committees have been held eight times to prepare development plans for each division and discuss the discovery of new tasks.

Major ongoing projects include ▲ efficient integrated management of metropolitan BIS using route information of the Gwangju-Naju bus for easy passenger understanding ▲ activation of the energy industry convergence complex ▲ construction of the Gwangju-Innovation City access road (Section 7 of the Gwangju-Gangjin Expressway project) ▲ and improvement of water quality in agricultural reservoirs.

Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hyo said, “We will further activate the Innovation City Research Planning TF to continuously discover and promote linkage cooperation projects in the Innovation City. Through this, we will do our best to improve the residential conditions of employees of relocated public institutions and contribute to urban revitalization.”
