[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 30th that it will conduct 'Radio Wave Sector Training for Employees' in six key areas?drones, smart cities, smart factories, autonomous vehicles, smart farms, and electronic materials and components?to help companies utilizing radio waves actively respond to changes in the industrial environment.
This initiative stems from the fact that radio waves, which were previously used mainly for broadcasting and telecommunications, have expanded their application range across all industrial sectors thanks to the advancement of ICT technologies, leading to an increasing demand for practical radio wave personnel in the field. The Ministry of Science and ICT decided on this training, judging that most companies lack the capacity to retrain their existing specialized workforce.
From the companies' perspective, the program aims to enhance innovation capabilities while reducing the burden of new hires, and from the employees' perspective, it offers a customized retraining program that contributes to career development, planned as a new project this year.
The training program consists of courses necessary for actual industrial sites, including opening seminars, education on the latest technologies and legal systems, and practical training and measurement of radio communication modules in the six key areas.
The 'Radio Wave Sector Training for Employees' will be conducted from July 6 to December 23. Corporate training managers or employees wishing to apply can register through the course information site (www.앞장감.kr) or the Korea Radio Promotion Association Radio Broadcasting and Communication Training Center website (www.atic.ac, course information).
Oh Yong-su, Director of the Radio Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “We hope this program, prepared to help companies and employees actively respond to changes in the industrial environment, will serve as a foundation for pioneering new industries and developing converged products and services. We will continue to promote government support to strengthen the capabilities of companies utilizing radio waves.”
