[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced that it signed a private consignment operation agreement for the Seokgwan Silver Welfare Center with the Buddhist Chongjijong Social Welfare Foundation (CEO Kang Jae-hoon) on the 25th.

As the consignment period of the existing center ended on the 30th, the district conducted a public recruitment for the trustee and selected Chongjijong as the trustee corporation of the Seokgwan Silver Welfare Center through a selection committee among the applying corporations.

At the agreement ceremony held at Seongbuk-gu Office on the 25th, Mayor Lee Seung-ro, CEO Kang Jae-hoon (Chongjijong), and other officials participated and had an in-depth discussion on the operation direction of the Silver Welfare Center programs and meeting the diverse welfare needs of the elderly.

Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, "It is an honor that a capable and excellent corporation will operate the Seokgwan Silver Welfare Center, and the district will actively support the smooth operation of the center."

He also urged, "Considering many local resources of Seongbuk-gu and the characteristics of Seokgwan-dong, I hope many elderly people will participate and enjoy together."

The Seokgwan Silver Welfare Center opened in July 2009 and is available for seniors aged 60 and over, with about 2,100 members and an average daily usage of about 250 people. It has operated various programs such as singing classes, yoga, belly dance, and table tennis, but has been closed since February due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
