[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Tae Young-ho, a member of the Future United Party, stated on the 24th that North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un’s order to suspend military actions against South Korea shows that "broadcasts to the North are undoubtedly a special remedy for North Korea."

On the same day, Tae wrote on his Facebook, "As soon as our military announced on the 23rd that they were considering restoring loudspeakers aimed at North Korea, Kim Jong-un suspended military actions," adding, "It seems that broadcasts to the North are really frightening."

Earlier, the Ministry of National Defense had revealed on the 23rd that it was reviewing the installation of loudspeakers within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) aimed at North Korea.

He continued, "If North Korea has nuclear weapons, we have broadcasts to the North. Force can never overcome culture," and explained, "North Korean soldiers listen to weather information from the loudspeakers and decide their farming activities for the day. They also listen to our (South Korea’s) news, sports, and music from idol singers, admiring the Republic of Korea. Even Kim Jong-un’s visit to China is conveyed to North Korean soldiers through our loudspeakers."

He then claimed, "Among the April 27 Panmunjom Declaration, Kim Jong-un’s greatest achievement was stopping broadcasts to the North."

He added, "Regarding our military’s review of resuming broadcasts to the North, the North Korean General Political Bureau must be quite troubled, wondering how to conduct ideological education for the military again," and stressed, "Our government must never be dragged along by North Korea’s abnormal behavior."

Finally, he emphasized, "We must establish a preemptive response manual against North Korea’s provocations, respond firmly according to principles, and publicly disclose our principles to the North to deter them from rash provocations in advance."

Meanwhile, according to the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, Kim Jong-un presided over a Central Military Commission preliminary meeting via video conference the previous day and suspended the implementation of military action plans against South Korea.
