[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] ○…Cameron Champ (USA, photo) has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)...

The PGA Tour announced on the 24th (Korean time) through its website, "Champ tested positive in the COVID-19 test conducted ahead of the Travelers Championship starting on the 26th," and "Champ will not participate in the Travelers." Champ also stated, "I am disappointed by the positive COVID-19 result because I was feeling well," and added, "I will go through the necessary procedures to protect myself and others."

Champ was the long hitter who ranked first in average driving distance last year (320.8 yards). In September, he notably won the Safeway Open, which was part of the 2020 season, securing an early victory. On the PGA Tour, Nick Watney (USA) was the first to test positive for COVID-19 during the RBC Heritage held last week in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Fortunately, all 11 people who had close contact with Watney tested negative.
