[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Two additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Daejeon.
According to Daejeon City on the 22nd, as of 10 a.m. that day, a man in his 70s living in Sanseong-dong, Jung-gu, Mr. A (#83), and a man in his 50s living in Seongnam-dong, Dong-gu, Mr. B (#84), tested positive for COVID-19.
Mr. A was confirmed positive while in self-quarantine since the 20th after contact with patient #75 at Dunsan Electronics Town.
Mr. B was also found to have visited Dunsan Electronics Town on the 17th and had contact with patients #75 and #79. They are scheduled to be admitted to the negative pressure ward at Chungnam National University Hospital.
With this, the total number of confirmed cases who visited Dunsan Electronics Town between the 11th and 13th and tested positive for COVID-19 has increased to eight.
The city sent a disaster alert message the previous day based on the pattern of ‘n-th generation infections’ from existing confirmed cases, urging those who visited Orange Town (2nd and 6th floors) in Goejeong-dong, Seo-gu from the 8th to the 17th, Dunsan Electronics Town B1, 1st, 2nd, and 6th floors in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu from the 9th to the 19th, Wellbeing Sauna in Sajung-dong from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 13th, and the male sauna at Gyeongha Oncheon Hotel in Bongmyeong-dong from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 14th to receive free COVID-19 testing at their local health centers.
Additionally, the city plans to take criminal measures against confirmed patients who refused to provide detailed statements during epidemiological investigations, gave false statements, or concealed facts.
In fact, the city intends to file charges against a man in his 50s who deliberately concealed his visit to a multi-use facility (Bulgama Sauna) and another region (Jeonju), causing confusion in the epidemiological investigation, under the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.
Meanwhile, Daejeon will officially begin practicing ‘high-intensity social distancing’ starting on the 22nd.
