[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 18th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly held a Korea-Latin America Business Webinar with the Korea-Latin America Association under the theme "Business Opportunities between Korea and Latin America in the Context of the Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)."
This webinar was held to support Korean companies wishing to enter Latin America, one of our major emerging markets, despite the global economic downturn caused by COVID-19. Approximately 90 participants attended, including Korean medical supplies exporters, health and medical institutions, hospital officials, and medical supplies companies from major Latin American countries.
Korean companies exporting medical and quarantine supplies participated in the webinar to introduce COVID-19 diagnostic kits and diagnostic devices in general, as well as rapid COVID-19 molecular and immunodiagnostic systems, targeting local companies and health institutions in Latin America, where the recent spread of COVID-19 has been severe.
Latin American companies and institutional representatives attending the seminar showed active interest by asking various questions about the excellent quality of our medical supplies such as diagnostic kits.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "This webinar served as a useful opportunity to support the entry of our companies into the Latin American market in the field of COVID-19 related medical and quarantine supplies," adding, "Going forward, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to continuously support our companies' entry into the Latin American medical market by enhancing health and medical cooperation with Latin American countries in the post-COVID-19 era."
