Jeon Nam-do Councilor Lee Min-jun Seeks Cooperation Plans for Mutual Growth and Development of Naju Old Downtown and Innovation City

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 17th, Jeollanam-do Provincial Council member Lee Minjun announced that on the 16th, he held a meeting with the labor union chairpersons of 16 relocated public institutions in the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City at the KEPCO Electronic Library conference room.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Lee Minjun and Councilor Choi Myungsoo of Jeollanam-do Provincial Council participated together to explore support and cooperation measures at the level of Jeollanam-do and the Gwang-Jeon Labor Union Association for coexistence and development between Naju city center and the Innovation City.

At this meeting, the Gwang-Jeon Labor Union Association requested improvements in educational conditions such as resolving parking lot issues in Naju and Innovation City, improving and supplementing the transportation system between Naju Station and Innovation City, enhancing residential conditions in Innovation City, and fostering prestigious middle and high schools.

They also proposed the operation of the Innovation City Development Support Center and securing office space for the Gwang-Jeon Labor Union Association in the Complex Innovation Center, suggesting the establishment of a cooperative system among the Jeollanam-do Innovation City Support Group, the Provincial Council, and the Gwang-Jeon Labor Union Association.

In response, Vice Chairman Lee Minjun said, “A forum was created to directly listen to the difficulties of relocated public institution employees and to have an open dialogue about the role of coexistence for regional development. It is regrettable that Innovation City has not yet been established properly due to insufficient residential conditions. The province and Naju city will spare no effort in various areas such as education, environment, and culture to improve the residential conditions of Innovation City.”

He added, “I agree on the necessity of a communication system between the Gwang-Jeon Labor Union Association and will regularize communication meetings to resolve inconveniences and build a close cooperative system.”

Meanwhile, the Gwang-Jeon Labor Union Association is a consultative body consisting of labor unions of public institutions relocated to the Gwangju-Jeonnam Innovation City, including 16 unions such as the KEPCO KDN Union, Korea Rural Community Corporation Union, and Private School Teachers’ Pension Union.
