[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch (Manager Na Yeon) announced on the 17th that it will hold a direct shipment event to expand the sales channels of excellent specialty products from Jeonnam.
The event, held from the 18th to the 25th at the food hall of Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch, will feature agricultural and marine products selected from 12 regions in Jeonnam, including Gokseong, Boseong, and Wando, allowing customers to purchase excellent Namdo food products all in one place.
Above all, it is expected to provide practical help by offering an opportunity to expand sales channels to local farmers whose existing sales channels were blocked and sales volume decreased due to the COVID-19 impact, such as school openings being postponed.
In fact, Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch directly visited the farm of Oh Hyun-soo, who produces melons in Gokseong, Jeonnam’s representative specialty product, to promote the sales of Gokseong melons, which have just started shipping. They checked the production facilities and cultivation environment and secured high-sugar-content melons directly from the production site to showcase at this event.
As a result, Oh’s farm, which produces melons on about 3,000 pyeong of land, secured a stable additional source of income by supplying melons through Lotte Department Store.
The Namdo excellent specialty product event will feature about 30 items, including Gokseong melons, Boseong potatoes, Wando abalone, Mokpo grilled hairtail, and Hampyeong Korean beef. Since the products are directly sourced from the production site, the agricultural and marine products will be sold at prices about 20-30% cheaper than the market price in a fresher state.
Representative prices include Gokseong melon at 7,500 won (1.6 kg, 1 piece), Gurye zucchini at 1,000 won (1 piece), Boseong potatoes at 2,500 won (1 kg), Jangseong jujube tomatoes at 8,000 won (2 kg, 1 box), Wando live abalone at 29,000 won (10 pieces), and Yeonggwang dried yellow corvina at 10,000 won (20 pieces).
Na Yeon, manager of Lotte Department Store Gwangju Branch, said, “This event directly sources food products produced by local farmers and presents them to customers,” adding, “We will continue win-win activities that practically help expand the sales of local specialty products during difficult times.”
