Asia Economy & Seoul City Joint Project [Towards Work-Life Balance 2.0]
Seoul City Women and Family Foundation, Self-Check Survey
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Among Seoul citizens who have had work experience or are currently working in the past year, those in their 30s showed the most imbalance in work-life balance.
The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family conducted an online survey called 'Work-Life Balance Self-Check' from the 18th of last month to the 14th of this month. The results showed that among people in their 20s to 60s, only those in their 30s had an imbalance rate more than twice as high as the balanced rate.
For those in their 20s, 40s, and 50s, the balanced group accounted for about 60%, while the imbalanced group was about 30%. All respondents in their 60s answered that they maintained a balanced work-life. However, the number of people experiencing overload was higher in their 40s and 50s, with 6 people each, compared to 5 people in their 30s. By company size, the highest imbalance rate was found in companies with 51 to less than 100 employees, while companies with 300 or more employees had the highest balance rate at 70%.
Baek Misoon, CEO of the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family, said, "This survey result shows that work-life imbalance is high among women in their 30s participating in the labor market regardless of marital status," adding, "Since this is an important finding, it is time to expand social discussions on work-family compatibility and to discuss specific improvements in working conditions to create a labor environment that supports work-life balance."
