Public Recruitment for Prospective Tenants at Jongno-gu Youth Startup Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) is recruiting companies and prospective entrepreneurs to move into the Jongno Youth Startup Center (3 Saemunan-ro 3-gil, 5th floor of Naeil Building) until June 21 to discover and support aspiring young entrepreneurs.

The Jongno Youth Startup Center, officially opened in February this year to foster young entrepreneurs, create jobs, and revitalize the local economy, offers various spaces for one-person companies and prospective entrepreneurs, including offices for resident companies, open startup spaces, meeting rooms, and networking lounges.

Jongno-gu is recruiting applicants for residency at the center this time to continuously support prospective entrepreneurs with innovative ideas and excellent technology.

If selected as a final resident company, applicants can use all the facilities within the center for seven months from July this year to January next year by paying only a nominal residency fee.

Additionally, they will receive support through customized startup education, expert consulting programs, and business coaching via mentoring. In particular, the district plans to provide various growth opportunities such as commercialization funds and market development using Jongno-gu’s infrastructure.

Eligibility is open to young people aged 39 or younger residing in Seoul who are entrepreneurs or prospective entrepreneurs with less than three years of experience. As of the announcement date (June 12, 2020), residents of Jongno-gu, women, persons with disabilities, national veterans, and those with investment attraction achievements will receive additional points.

Recruitment covers all fields including IT and technology (broadcasting and communications, APP development, etc.), knowledge services (cultural contents, publishing, etc.), design, and culture and arts. Business items that can be linked with Jongno-gu’s tourism resources or cultural and artistic infrastructure will be given preference.

To apply, download the residency application form and business plan from the Jongno Cultural Foundation website by June 21, fill them out, and submit online.

The district will conduct a comprehensive evaluation through document screening based on business execution capability, marketability of the item, growth potential, and the concreteness and completeness of the business plan, and announce the final selected resident companies on June 26.

For more details and other inquiries, refer to the announcement on the Jongno Cultural Foundation website or contact the Youth Startup Center.

Mayor Kim Young-jong said, “We will operate substantial programs and carry out various related projects so that the Jongno Youth Startup Center can serve as a hub supporting the continuous growth of challenging young people,” and added, “We hope many young people interested in this residency recruitment will participate.”
