[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Gyeongsan City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, announced on the 16th that the Resource Circulation Division staff visited the collection center for discarded home appliances located in Jain-myeon on the 13th to volunteer in sorting used fluorescent lamps.
The used fluorescent lamps collected from general households such as houses and apartments in the area are sorted by type and then transported to recycling companies. Since used fluorescent lamps contain mercury, which can cause nervous system damage and environmental pollution, careful attention is required in the recycling process of these lamps.
Considering this, Gyeongsan City is actively promoting the installation of collection boxes for used fluorescent lamps at town, township, and neighborhood administrative welfare centers as well as in apartment complexes, enabling citizens to separate and dispose of them properly.
Kim Seonghwan, head of the Resource Circulation Division of Gyeongsan City, expressed gratitude to the staff who participated in the sorting work despite it being the weekend, saying, "Through this sorting work, we were able to once again realize the importance of separating waste." He emphasized the importance of separating recyclables.
