Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Strengthens Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution Functions for 'School Violence'... Close Support for Educational Sites

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education held a 'Reconciliation and Dispute Mediation Capacity Building Workshop' on the 15th at Geumosan Hotel in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, for 21 members of the Reconciliation and Dispute Mediation Support Group to resolve difficulties faced by students and parents due to school violence.

This workshop was planned to enhance the practical capabilities of the support group by conducting the first session from the 15th to 16th, followed by a week of field application and personal internalization activities, and then repeating with the second session from the 22nd to 23rd.

Since this year, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education has been directly operating the Reconciliation and Dispute Mediation Support Group, nurturing professional personnel and building a talent pool through capacity-building workshops, thereby closely supporting educational sites struggling with school violence. This measure was taken in response to criticisms that entrusting the school violence reconciliation and dispute mediation project to commissioned institutions had limitations in systematic operation.

Jung Byung-woo, Director of the Life Culture Division at the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Through this workshop, the Reconciliation and Dispute Mediation Support Group will be immediately deployed to support school sites when there is a request for reconciliation and dispute mediation before the review stage of measures for perpetrators and victims in cases of school violence occurring at schools."
