Emart24 announced on the 16th that sales of handheld fans increased 14 times compared to the same period last month, based on sales data from June 1 to 14. From June 6 to 13, when the daytime high temperature (Seoul 기준) exceeded 30℃, sales of handheld fans rose significantly by 83.1% compared to the previous week (May 23 to 30).
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, this summer is expected to continue with a "scorching heat" as the average temperature is forecasted to rise to between 24.1℃ and 25.1℃, higher than the normal average of 23.6℃. Additionally, since people must wear masks in the hot weather, it is expected that more customers will feel the heat more intensely.
In response, Emart24 has quickly introduced and is operating nine types of handheld fans, three times more than last year, to prepare for this summer. This year, they have added various products according to usage, such as foldable portable fans that can be stored by folding, neckband fans that can be worn around the neck, and LED portable fans with LED lights.
Emart24 plans to hold a 1+1 event for three types of handheld fans throughout July so that customers looking for fans can purchase them more economically.
Meanwhile, customers seeking other items to cope with the heat, such as cool sleeves, cool scarves, underarm pads, and nipple patches, have also increased. Fashion items related to heat in June (June 1 to 14) increased by 149% compared to last year and by 283% compared to the previous month. Additionally, during the same period, items frequently sought in hot weather such as iced beverages (coffee + pouch) increased by 83.2%, canned beer by 71.4%, bagged cup ice by 51.2%, deodorants by 44.7%, and sunscreen by 31.9%.
