Yangcheon-gu, Youth Support Measures Suited for the 'Untact' Era?

From Psychological Counseling to Employment and Startup Support, Transitioned to Non-Face-to-Face... High Youth Response to Activity Support Through Online Programs

Yangcheon-gu, Youth Support Measures Suited for the 'Untact' Era?

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is operating youth support programs, which had been suspended due to the prolonged spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), by converting them to non-face-to-face formats.

The district supports youth activities by running various programs ranging from psychological counseling to employment and entrepreneurship support at youth spaces such as Mujungryeokjidae Yangcheon, Seoul Startup Cafe Yangcheon Sinjeong Branch, and Yangcheon-gu Job Cafe.

'Mujungryeokjidae Yangcheon' is a representative youth community space in Yangcheon-gu that helps young people struggling with social issues such as employment difficulties and housing problems to escape the 'gravity' pressing down on their reality and to solve problems and receive support on their own. It serves as a hub for youth activities.

Since March, all programs at 'Mujungryeokjidae Yangcheon' have been converted to online formats. So far, they have been operating programs such as ▲‘Wise Workplace Life’ tips for young professionals ▲‘Mujiyang Day Dalgona Coffee Edition,’ where participants make dalgona coffee together ▲‘Monthly Counseling Center: Housing Edition,’ which solves youth housing concerns over the phone ▲online art therapy programs.

In June, programs such as ▲art therapy and ▲‘Mujiyang Day Challenge Golden Bell’ continue to be held online, and applications can be made after checking the Mujungryeokjidae website.

Additionally, the ‘Seoul Startup Cafe Yangcheon Sinjeong Branch’ offers various programs including customized mentoring, education, and consulting connections for prospective entrepreneurs and youth, providing comprehensive services related to startups. The ‘Yangcheon-gu Job Cafe’ offers all necessary services for youth preparing for employment in one place, from providing the latest job information, employment counseling, and job consulting to study room rentals.

Startup Cafe and Job Cafe have also converted their previously suspended programs to non-face-to-face formats due to the COVID-19 situation.

Youth interested in entrepreneurship can check the operating programs on the Seoul Startup Cafe Yangcheon Sinjeong Branch website and apply through the startup consultation section.

Meanwhile, online lectures for youth preparing for employment at the Job Cafe, such as ▲2020 Recruitment Trend Analysis ▲Job Mentoring with Current Employees ▲Complete Analysis of Blind Recruitment ▲Perfect Preparation of Job Search Plans ▲Employment Tips from HR Managers, can be applied for on the Seoul Job Portal or MyOn Job website up to two days before the training.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19, we have converted youth programs to non-face-to-face formats so that young people can pursue their dreams. I hope these programs for local youth will become a place where they can develop their capabilities and realize their dreams and imaginations.”
