[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the United Future Party, tendered his resignation on the 15th, taking responsibility for the Democratic Party of Korea's forcible vote to elect the chairpersons of six standing committees in the National Assembly.

According to United Future Party officials, Joo expressed his intention to resign together with Policy Committee Chairman Lee Jong-bae at the party meeting held that day. However, it was reported that United Future Party lawmakers are urging Joo not to resign.

Meanwhile, as the plenary session to elect the chairpersons of the standing committees for the first half of the 21st National Assembly convened at 6 p.m. that day, United Future Party lawmakers boycotted the session in protest against the forcible vote.
