[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University’s school enterprise ‘Animotion’ has been selected as a recipient of the ‘3rd Phase Consortium-Type School Enterprise Support Project’ supported by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
Dongseo University announced on the 15th that with this project selection, Animotion will receive up to 2.6 billion KRW in financial support over five years until 2024. Animotion is the only school enterprise nationwide to be selected for three consecutive phases.
The 3rd Phase Consortium-Type School Enterprise Support Project is a business group type composed of two or more school enterprises and at least one industry partner. Dongseo University’s Animotion will carry out the project together with Gyeongnam Information College’s Shukit and the Busan-based small and medium enterprise ‘BrandB’.
Founded in 2005 centered on Dongseo University’s Department of Digital Contents, ‘Animotion’ has been engaged in character IP-based OSMU (one source multi use) business, CG video production support projects, and attraction content licensing businesses. In particular, various types of merchandise developed using its self-produced character ‘AtoFriends’ are planned to be distributed as admission office souvenirs to students.
In this project, Animotion aims to revitalize the local industry by combining the shoe business and content IP business specialized in the Busan region through collaboration with Gyeongnam Information College’s ‘Shukit,’ which possesses shoe parts and product design technology based on various 3D software and equipment, and the local company ‘BrandB,’ which will handle marketing and sales.
Additionally, through the on-site training program conducted alongside this project, students will be able to improve their job skills through practical work and develop a management mindset. The two-track entrepreneurship training program, reflecting the characteristics of the related departments, will also help prospective entrepreneurs acquire necessary skills such as entrepreneurial mindset and basic entrepreneurship practical abilities.
Professor Cho Seung-woo, CEO of Animotion, stated, “We will use this school enterprise project selection as a stepping stone to continuously activate exchanges with Gyeongnam Information College and take the opportunity to contribute to the revival of manufacturing in the Busan region.”
