1.33 Billion KRW Invested in Sayeoksin History Park Tree Planting and Pergola Maintenance... Replacement of Children's Play Equipment and Installation of Rest Facilities for All Ages at 3 Old Rest Areas by This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) has completed maintenance on aging facilities within Sayuksin History Park (152-3 Noryangjin-dong) to provide residents with a safe resting space.
Sayuksin History Park, Seoul City Tangible Cultural Property No. 8, is a historical and cultural space featuring exhibition rooms and experiential education rooms, as well as a famous spot with excellent views of the Han River. It is equipped with convenience facilities such as a solar-powered evergreen tree shelter and resident sports facilities.
Since April, the district has invested 133 million KRW to carry out planting of 530 Spiraea shrubs, 500 Euonymus alatus (burning bush), and 970 Kerria japonica (Japanese kerria) within Sayuksin Park; maintenance of aging and damaged pergola roofs; pruning of evergreen and deciduous trees; removal of undergrowth and vines; and wall cleaning to improve the park’s landscape.
Additionally, sidewalks were paved with artificial granite blocks, and old wooden stairs were replaced with wooden stairs equipped with safe fences so residents can comfortably rest in the park.
The district will also invest 630 million KRW by the end of this month to renovate three aging rest areas: Dohwa Park (244-183 Sangdo-dong), Family Shelter (259-116 Sangdo-dong), and Yangji Village Yard (220-6 Sadang-dong).
The main renovation items include replacing aging children’s playground equipment such as combination playsets, swings, and rocking toys; installing pergolas; replacing and adding exercise equipment; and creating rest facilities for people of all ages. Additionally, 14 species of trees and flowers, including Acer palmatum (Japanese maple) and Spiraea, will be planted.
Kim Wonsik, Director of the Parks and Greenery Division, said, “We will continue to do our best to promote the ‘5-Minute Park Project’ so that residents can more easily use parks close to their homes.”
The district is also promoting a family park creation project to transform the neighborhood park near Yongyang Bongjeojeong Pavilion into an urban forest where nature and people coexist, as part of the Yongyang Bongjeojeong area tourism attraction project, scheduled for completion by the end of November.
