Sim's Bionics Co., Ltd. (CEO Lim Sin-kyo) announced that its product Vi-trap, a mildly acidic hypochlorous acid water, has become the first in Korea to inactivate 99.99% of the COVID-19 virus within 30 seconds.
Sim's Bionics, a specialized manufacturer of electrolyzed water located in Delta Plex, Suwon, reported that experiments conducted in a BSL_3 sealed laboratory using their Vi-trap product confirmed that the COVID-19 virus was inactivated by 99.99% within 30 seconds.
The company has been exporting the mildly acidic hypochlorous acid water generator, developed through joint research with the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Tokyo, to Japan since 2017. With 17 patents related to electrolyzed water, it is garnering attention for its outstanding technology and extensive manufacturing experience.
The Vi-trap product, scheduled for market release this month, has also secured safety data related to 99.99% inactivation of the COVID-19 virus, skin irritation and corrosion tests, and acute oral toxicity tests.
In this regard, on June 3rd, the Korea Disease Control Research Institute KR Biotech (BLS3 No. KCDC-09-3-01) issued an official test report (KR-2004-006-SBN02) on the COVID-19 virus.
Meanwhile, hypochlorous acid water (HOCL) is a substance approved as a food additive and safe disinfectant by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the U.S. FDA, and Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. It has high sterilization power against various pathogenic bacteria and viruses. It has been verified to have sterilization power 80 to 100 times stronger than sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and higher than 70% alcohol disinfectants, with safety proven through numerous experiments and clinical trials.
Sim's Bionics provided 2 tons of mildly acidic hypochlorous acid water to Daegu City, which has been struggling due to COVID-19. The company also supported the Goyang Disabled Center, Dangjin St. Mary's Hospital, Yeongtong District Office in Suwon, and the Delta Plex Management Office in Suwon with mildly acidic hypochlorous acid water generators (Vi-trap), amounting to about 10 million KRW in cash value. Recently, they signed a business agreement to install and operate mildly acidic hypochlorous acid water generators and related equipment at Daegu Samsung Lions Park for the Samsung Lions baseball team.
Regarding this, CEO Lim Sin-kyo said, "I hope this will be an opportunity to contribute to the eradication of COVID-19 not only in Korea but worldwide during these difficult times for everyone suffering from the virus."
