Selection of the 29th Scholarship Students of the Seaha Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation

Selection of the 29th Scholarship Students of the Seaha Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation announced on the 9th that it has selected 35 university scholarship recipients for the 28th term.

The SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation anticipated that the burden of tuition fees on households would increase further due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and decided to provide continuous support by selecting 10 more scholarship recipients than the previous year. Despite the difficult environment for securing scholarship funds caused by the prolonged economic recession and ultra-low interest rates, the foundation expanded the scale of support.

The SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation accepts applications from university students in need of tuition fees every year, conducts screenings, and provides scholarships. Selected scholarship recipients receive payments for two years, including actual tuition fees paid and partial amounts of national scholarship reductions, up to 10 million KRW per year, with additional living expenses. The foundation also offers beneficial programs for selected scholarship recipients, such as the annual summer 'Fresh Up Camp' and the 'Exchange Day' event where they meet alumni scholarship recipients.

This year, unlike usual, interviews were conducted using non-face-to-face online video channels as part of social distancing measures due to COVID-19, and the scholarship certificate awarding ceremony was held simply with congratulatory remarks from the foundation chairman and orientation via video channels.

Chairman Lee Soon-hyung conveyed through the video channel to the selected scholarship recipients, "I hope all scholarship recipients recognize that they have the qualities and potential to become future leaders," and added, "I hope this connection becomes a small foundation for achieving each of your dreams."

Meanwhile, the SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation has established a doctoral scholarship system to contribute to nurturing talents who will lead the development of science and technology in Korea, and will select doctoral scholarship recipients starting this year. In the first year of implementation, candidates will be accepted through recommendations from domestic graduate schools and advisors, with selections to be finalized in June.
