[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] Samsung Electronics' second half strategic smartphones, the Galaxy Note20 and the new foldable phone Galaxy Fold2, will be unveiled online in early August. A new smartwatch equipped with electrocardiogram and blood pressure measurement functions will also be introduced.

According to Samsung Electronics on the 9th, the company is strongly considering holding the 'Galaxy Unpacked' event, where new smartphone products are unveiled, online on August 5th. Samsung Electronics has held the Unpacked event every August in New York, but this year, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and overlapping protests against racial discrimination, preparations are being made for an online event.

At this event, not only the new smartphone Galaxy Note 20 but also the next foldable phones 'Galaxy Fold2' and the 5G version of 'Galaxy Z Flip', as well as the next-generation smartwatch 'Galaxy Watch3' are expected to be unveiled together.

First, the Galaxy Note20 series is expected to come in two models: the Galaxy Note20 and the Galaxy Note20 Plus (Ultra). Similar to the S20 series, the front will feature a 'hole display' with the camera located at the top center and the rest filled with the display, while the rear will have multiple cameras arranged in a rectangular design.

The higher-end model, Galaxy Note20 Ultra, is expected to feature ▲Infinity-O display ▲Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 992 mobile processor (AP) ▲6.87-inch QHD display ▲4500mAh battery, among other specifications. It will be equipped with a 108-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, and it is widely expected that the 100x zoom feature of the Galaxy S20 Ultra model will not be included.

A new foldable phone will also be unveiled. The main characters are the Galaxy Fold2, which has larger internal and external screens than the first foldable phone Galaxy Fold, and the Galaxy Z Flip that supports 5G.

The Galaxy Fold2 is expected to measure 6 inches when folded and in the high 7-inch range when unfolded. The external display will also feature an Infinity-O display, filling the entire area except for the camera hole with the screen. Water and dust resistance features will be newly applied, and there is also speculation that the S Pen will be included. In this case, the Galaxy Fold2 will be the first Samsung foldable phone with water and dust resistance.

Samsung Electronics' new smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch3, will be equipped with electrocardiogram and blood pressure measurement functions. Last month, Samsung Electronics received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for the electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure measurement apps. It is also expected to provide GPS and sleep monitoring functions.

The Galaxy Watch3 will feature 8GB of storage, twice that of its predecessor, and a 330mAh battery, and is expected to be released in a titanium version in addition to the existing aluminum and stainless steel versions. The sizes are reported to be two types, 45mm and 41mm, which fall between the Galaxy Watch Active2 (44mm) and Galaxy Watch (46mm).

An industry insider predicted, "All products will be unveiled through the August Unpacked event and are expected to be released around the same time from late August."
