The Digital New Deal Round was launched in February with the purpose of creating jobs and achieving rapid economic recovery through the successful implementation of the 'Korean-style Digital New Deal,' as well as establishing a foundation for balanced national development and sustainable economic growth. Led by the Public-Private Council for Innovation Growth, it involves the government, National Assembly, and local regions. The Digital New Deal Round will carry out activities such as developing and coordinating digital new deal policies, system improvements, collecting field opinions, and spreading consensus. Roh Woong-rae, member of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Roh Gyu-sung, Chairman of the Korea Productivity Center, serve as co-chief chairpersons.

The Digital New Deal Round plans to hold regular related forums and the '1st Nationwide Touring Discussion' for digital transformation and new market creation in industrial crisis areas such as Gunsan, Wonju, Ulsan, Gwangju, Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan. In his opening remarks, Representative Roh Woong-rae stated, “In preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, government and private cooperation in the Digital New Deal is urgently needed,” adding, “We will actively discover and support Korean New Deal tasks and strategies through the Digital New Deal Round.”

Chairman Roh Gyu-sung emphasized, “Polarization is severe, with regional decline due to concentration in the metropolitan area, so the New Deal must consider these economically vulnerable areas,” and added, “The Korean New Deal has two pillars, digital and green, but ultimately, the Digital New Deal is the pillar that can effectively drive the Korean New Deal.”
