[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kyungbok University held its '28th Anniversary Ceremony' on the 5th in front of Udangwan Hall at the Namyangju Campus. Notably, the 12th Udang Award ceremony was also held during the event. The Udang Award was awarded to Lim Young-woong (Department of Practical Music), the winner of Mr. Trot.
The ceremony was conducted with a minimal number of faculty and staff attending in accordance with the COVID-19 prevention guideline of 'social distancing in daily life.' The program included the national anthem, reading of the Kyungbok spirit and founding philosophy, commemorative speeches, Udang Award and group and individual awards, presentation of certificates of commendation, and a congratulatory performance by the faculty choir.
At the Udang Award ceremony, in addition to Lim Young-woong, faculty and staff were recognized with awards in various categories such as employment rate, enrollment rate, industry-academia revenue rate, outstanding papers, national exam pass rate, and excellent teaching evaluations. Professors Kim Jeong-su (Department of Nursing), Jeong Soon-o (Department of Spatial Design), and Jang Hyun-hee (Department of Beauty Management), who contributed to educational development, received commendations from the Minister of Education.
Kim Kyung-bok, Acting President of Kyungbok University, said in his commemorative speech, "I thank the awardees and faculty members who have devoted themselves to growing strong and healthy over the past 28 years," and emphasized, "We will focus the university's capabilities on nurturing creative convergence talents with future-oriented global competencies leading the 4th Industrial Revolution."
Kyungbok University ranked first in employment rate among metropolitan area universities (with over 2,000 graduates) for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019, according to the Ministry of Education.
