North Korea's Rodong Sinmun: "Hong Kong Security Law, China's Decision is Justified"

[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Ki-ho] The North Korean Workers' Party organ, Rodong Sinmun, pointed out that the Chinese government's decision regarding the "Hong Kong National Security Law" (Hong Kong Security Law) is justified. It repeatedly emphasized that the international community cannot raise issues about it.

On the 7th, Rodong Sinmun, in a commentary titled "No One Can Infringe on the Sovereign Nation's Autonomous Rights," claimed that the National People's Congress (NPC) of China’s approval of the draft Hong Kong Security Law is a "dignified exercise of sovereign nation's autonomous rights."

It continued, "The decision-making power on Hong Kong issues lies with China," and stressed, "All measures taken by China to safeguard the country's sovereignty, security, and development interests are extremely legitimate."

Rodong Sinmun further stated, "China's governing bodies are taking various measures in Hong Kong to protect the lives and property of the people and to safeguard the country's security," and pointed out, "Attempts to separate Hong Kong from Chinese territory under the pretext of independence are absolutely unacceptable to China."

Amid escalating conflicts between China and the United States over the Hong Kong Security Law issue, North Korea has been consistently siding with China, highlighting the friendly relations between North Korea and China.

On the 30th of last month, North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs evaluated China's approval of the draft Hong Kong Security Law as a legitimate measure and expressed support for the Chinese government.
