[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT has introduced support measures for utilizing big data to activate research activities and solution development related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 7th, KT announced that it will provide 'floating population-based big data (hereinafter population data)' to educational and research institutions, small and venture companies, and startups at a discount of up to 90% from June 8 to 30. The population data provided by KT's big data solution BigSight is based on communication data from one year before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. Users can access ▲tourism analysis big data ▲commercial district analysis big data for major cities, counties, and districts nationwide. The discount benefits apply to educational and research institutions such as schools and industry-academic cooperation groups researching COVID-19, as well as small and venture companies and startups preparing new businesses in line with the post-COVID era.
Educational and research institutions can receive discounts on both tourism analysis and commercial district analysis big data, while venture companies and others can receive discounts on commercial district analysis big data. The data cannot be used for purposes other than research and new service development. Additionally, KT will provide small businesses with a one-year license to use KT's commercial district analysis solution service.
KT decided to offer discounted population data to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on society, study ways to overcome it, and revitalize the tourism industry and local commercial districts. To purchase population data, inquiries about product details and estimates can be made via the official BigSight email. More information can be found on the BigSight website.
Kim Chae-hee, Executive Director of KT AI/BigData Business Division, said, “KT is making multifaceted efforts to solve social problems such as COVID-19 by actively utilizing ICT solutions like artificial intelligence and big data,” adding, “We hope this population data discount will be of some help to educational and research institutions, small venture companies, and startups researching COVID-19.”
