[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that a 34-year-old woman in self-quarantine in Gonjiam-eup tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The woman is a childcare teacher at a daycare center in Giheung-gu, Yongin City, where COVID-19 cases have recently occurred consecutively. After a fellow childcare teacher (Suwon City patient No. 58) was confirmed positive on the 30th of last month, she entered self-quarantine.
At this daycare center, following the positive diagnosis of a 2-year-old boy (Yongin City patient No. 78) on the 5th, another 2-year-old boy (Yongin City patient No. 81) and the boy’s mother (32 years old, Yongin City patient No. 82) were confirmed positive on the 6th. As a result, the number of confirmed cases related to this daycare center has increased to five.
The first confirmed case at the daycare center, Suwon City patient No. 58, is a member of Suwon Dongbu Church, where a cluster infection occurred. She is also the daughter of a woman in her 50s (Suwon City patient No. 57) who was confirmed positive on the 29th of last month after contact with a worker at the Bucheon Coupang logistics center (Seoul Guro-gu patient No. 38).
Including the five confirmed cases at the Giheung-gu daycare center, the total number of confirmed cases related to Suwon Dongbu Church has reached 13 (8 in Suwon City, 3 in Yongin City, 1 in Hwaseong City, and 1 in Gwangju City).
