Jang Sung-kyu, 'Baeksang Arts Awards' Afterstory... "First Call with Jaeseok Hyung"

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu shared an anecdote about attending the Baeksang Arts Awards.

On the 6th, Jang Sung-kyu posted on his SNS, "My first Baeksang Arts Awards. I, who used to only conduct interviews backstage, was nominated," adding, "I was already overwhelmed enough, so I had no desire to win and only prepared a congratulatory bouquet."

He continued, "Just before the announcement, I suddenly found myself trembling," and confessed, "I thought I had no desire, but I felt a bit embarrassed seeing myself secretly hoping."

Then, Jang Sung-kyu shared an episode with Yoo Jae-suk, who was also nominated for the Male Entertainment Award in the TV category.

Jang said, "Of course, Jae-suk hyung received the award, and I gave him flowers with my congratulations," adding, "On the way home, Jae-suk hyung called me. It was our first phone call."

He said Yoo Jae-suk told him, "Sung-kyu, when the winners were taking photos, I was the only one who received a bouquet. Thank you," and added, "My first Baeksang ended with my first call with hyung."

Meanwhile, the nominees for the Male TV Entertainment Award at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards (2020), which Yoo Jae-suk won, included Kim Sung-joo of TV Chosun's 'Tomorrow's Mr. Trot,' Kim Hee-chul of JTBC's 'Knowing Bros,' Moon Se-yoon of KBS2's '2 Days & 1 Night Season 4,' and Jang Sung-kyu of JTBC's 'Room No. 1.'
