[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Harry Harris, the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, commemorated the fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the Korean War on Memorial Day, June 6.
On this day, Ambassador Harris posted on his Twitter, "On this Memorial Day, I pray for the souls of all Koreans who gave their lives to protect the Republic of Korea and the soldiers from UN member countries who fought in the war."
He added, "The number of soldiers killed or missing due to the Korean War totals 200,000, including more than 36,000 U.S. military personnel."
In May, Ambassador Harris visited the U.S. military war memorial at Imjingak in Paju to pay tribute to the U.S. soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Command emphasized on Facebook that day, "Today, we honor the brave people of the Republic of Korea," and stressed, "Let us take a moment to commemorate and remember them today."
