[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Kim Hee-ae, actress of 'The World of the Married,' received the honor of the Best Actress Award in the TV category at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.
At the 2020 '56th Baeksang Arts Awards' held on the 5th at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, Kim Hee-ae, who was the talk of the town for the drama 'The World of the Married,' was broadcast receiving the Best Actress Award in the TV category.
The nominees for Best Actress in the TV category included Gong Hyo-jin for 'When the Camellia Blooms,' Kim Hye-soo for 'Hyena,' Kim Hee-ae for 'The World of the Married,' Son Ye-jin for 'Crash Landing on You,' and Lee Ji-eun (IU) for 'Hotel Del Luna.'
In her acceptance speech, Kim Hee-ae said, "Since it was based on a British drama, I thought it was so radical and bold that I wondered if it would really be possible in Korea," but added, "Rather, I was really surprised by how much the viewers loved and responded to it, to the point that we might not have kept up with their expectations."
She continued, "I am really a fan of Kim Hye-soo, Son Ye-jin, Gong Hyo-jin, and Lee Ji-eun, who were also nominated," and said, "Even if we don't win awards, it's great that we can meet healthily. I am a fan of all of you. I hope we can congratulate each other."
She then expressed gratitude, saying, "The script had all the answers. The directions were written sincerely, so I was able to act comfortably," and added, "If it weren't for the staff who made it possible to deliver the best performance, I don't think I could have acted until the end. I am thankful to the staff who created a good environment."
Finally, she mentioned her co-stars with appreciation, saying, "Kim Young-min and Han So-hee should have received awards, so I will give them mine," and "Our nation's scapegoat Lee Tae-oh was the greatest and coolest actor to me. I hope to share this award with him."
