'Baeksang Arts Awards' Lee Byung-hun and Jeon Do-yeon Win Best Actor and Actress in Film Category

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Actors Lee Byung-hun and Jeon Do-yeon were honored with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards in the film category at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

On the afternoon of the 5th, at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, the Best Actor and Actress awards in the film category were awarded to Lee Byung-hun for "Namsan's Mr. Department Head" and Jeon Do-yeon for "Birthday."

On this day, Lee Byung-hun said in his acceptance speech, "The cheers and support from fans on the red carpet or at award ceremonies used to be a source of energy and strength. Today is a day when I really miss those moments," adding, "It is a day to feel the importance and preciousness of being together."

He continued, "There are a few important things when making a film, and I think the chemistry with the actors is important," expressing affection by saying, "I don't think there has ever been an ensemble that fit so well. Each person was full of personality and had their own color and energy, and I remember going to the set every day with a pleasant tension."

He added, "I thank my son Jun-woo, who helps me shoot comfortably, and Jun-woo's mother, Lee Min-jung."

Jeon Do-yeon said, "I was surprised. I came to congratulate others, but I didn't expect to be congratulated like this. Thank you," and expressed her thoughts, "I hope everyone knows that this award is shared with all the actors who were nominated together."

She continued, "'Birthday' was filmed a long time ago, but it still feels vivid. It was a work that I couldn't avoid even if I tried," and said, "Thank you to the director who never let go of me until the end. I am grateful to the staff and actors who participated and shared the significance."

Jeon Do-yeon also expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you to my daughter and my mother. The biggest thanks go to the audience. I will come back with a good film in theaters."
