[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 5th that it held the launching ceremony of the ‘Jeongeup-si Better Citizen Communication Committee’.
The ‘Jeongeup-si Better Citizen Communication Committee’ was formed with the purpose of gathering diverse opinions from various sectors on major policies and current projects of the 7th elected administration to seek directions for city development.
Additionally, it aims to be actively utilized as a communication channel with citizens during the implementation of various policies.
The committee organized three subcommittees by field: ‘Sotong Jeongeup’ (Communication Jeongeup), ‘Haengbok Simin’ (Happy Citizens), and ‘Cheongjeong Hwalryeok’ (Clean Vitality).
On this day, a total of 90 members, 30 from each subcommittee, were appointed, marking the official start of operations.
The 90 committee members consist of 36 institution/organization members and experts, and 54 citizens who were finally selected by computer lottery considering region, age, and gender from 114 applicants through an open recruitment, totaling 90 members.
The launching ceremony, conducted in a lively atmosphere throughout, began with the awarding of appointment certificates to the 90 attending members.
Following this, a special lecture titled ‘Jeongeup-si Better Citizen Communication Committee, Arm Yourself with Vision and Communication!’ was given by instructor Yeom Soyun.
After the launching ceremony, the 1st regular meeting was held, where members of each subcommittee introduced themselves, elected the chairperson and vice-chairperson to lead the subcommittees, and selected discussion topics for each subcommittee aimed at the future development of Jeongeup City.
Mayor Yoo Jinseop said, “I ask the Jeongeup-si Better Citizen Communication Committee to strive to lead Jeongeup, the Fragrant Republic of Happiness, through voluntary participation and proposals from citizens,” and added, “We will do our utmost for city administration that citizens can empathize with and be moved by.”
