Guri-si Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Disaster Management Evaluation for 4 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy (Guri) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Guri City in Gyeonggi Province has been selected as an excellent institution for four consecutive years in the disaster management evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The disaster management evaluation has been implemented since 2005 under the "Disaster and Safety Management Basic Act" and is a system that evaluates the comprehensive disaster management policy performance of disaster management responsible organizations.

This year, a total of 325 organizations, including 28 central government ministries, 243 local governments, and 54 public institutions, were comprehensively evaluated on disaster management performance across 34 indicators in 6 areas.

In this evaluation, Guri City achieved excellent results in all areas, including ▲health disaster mitigation activities ▲improvement of crisis management manuals by disaster type ▲crisis management of private multi-use facilities ▲cultivation of rapid initial response capabilities in case of disaster occurrence ▲actual disaster and accident response cases ▲and results of interviews with institution heads.

Mayor Ahn Seung-nam of Guri City stated, "This selection as an excellent institution is the result of continuous efforts to strengthen Guri City's disaster management organization and implement various policies for citizen safety to continuously improve disaster management levels." He emphasized, "We will not be complacent with the evaluation results and will focus all of Guri City's capabilities to do our best to overcome the current COVID-19 crisis."
