LG Electronics Withdraws Fair Trade Commission Complaint Regarding Samsung Electronics' Violation of the Act on Labeling and Advertising

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 5th that it has withdrawn the complaint filed with the Fair Trade Commission against Samsung Electronics in September last year for violating the Act on Labeling and Advertising. The withdrawal was made on the 3rd.

LG Electronics stated, "Considering that the misunderstanding by consumers that Samsung QLED TVs are products applying self-luminous QLED (Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode) technology, despite being LCD TVs without self-luminous QLED technology, has only been resolved after our complaint," and added, "especially taking into account the difficult domestic and international economic environment, we made this decision."

LG Electronics emphasized, "Since last year's complaint, Samsung Electronics has acknowledged through its website and YouTube that 'QLED TVs are products with a quantum dot film inserted into an LCD TV structure using LED backlight,'" and said, "this is judged to be Samsung Electronics clearly informing that Samsung QLED TVs do not apply self-luminous QLED technology."

They added, "LG Electronics will continue to provide accurate and sufficient information for consumers' right to know," and "we plan to continue fair competition to lead technology in the TV business going forward."
