Disabled Employment Corporation and Chungnam Office of Education Sign MOU to Establish Developmental Disability Training Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled and the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education signed a business agreement on the 5th to establish and operate the Chungnam Developmental Disabilities Training Center.

The Chungnam Developmental Disabilities Training Center plans to provide employment-linked vocational training for developmental disabilities who wish to find employment. It will operate 10 vocational experience centers where various job tasks such as office administration, manufacturing practice, and service support can be experienced, providing early career and vocational education for school-age developmental disabilities.

The Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education will assign specialized personnel in charge of career and vocational education to provide various services to developmental disabilities.

The Developmental Disabilities Training Center offers not only vocational training to strengthen the capabilities of young adults with developmental disabilities preparing for employment but also various vocational experience services for school-age developmental disabilities.

Currently, there are a total of 13 Developmental Disabilities Training Centers nationwide, including Seoul. This year, six new centers will open in regions including Chungnam, bringing the total to 19 training centers.

In particular, the Chungnam Developmental Disabilities Training Center plans to support the establishment and operation of vocational experience centers with the participation of multiple subsidiary-type standard workplaces for the disabled in the region, which are working hard to create employment for people with disabilities.

This year, subsidiaries participating as partners include Dure at Cheonan Chungmu Hospital and Nanuri of DY Auto, which develop jobs that developmental disabilities can perform, such as linen laundry assistance and automobile parts assembly assistance, providing employment opportunities.

Jo Jong-ran, the director of the agency, said, "The active participation of subsidiary-type standard workplaces for the disabled in the Chungnam region is expected to greatly help the economic independence of people with developmental disabilities through jobs," adding, "We will spare no support to expand the social advancement of people with developmental disabilities."
