[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 4th that it received the Leap Award at the '2019 City and County Evaluation Awards Ceremony' held at the provincial government office and will be supported with an incentive of 100 million won.
This evaluation, conducted on 23 cities and counties within the province, covered all aspects of administration, including the combined performance of 94 indicators from the five major national goals of the government joint evaluation led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and 10 indicators of the province’s key policies.
Gyeongju City received balanced evaluations in almost all areas of the government joint evaluation. In particular, in the job sector, it was highly rated in indicators such as the performance of local government financially supported job projects, the achievement rate of employment at public employment support agencies, and the performance and growth rate of investment attraction MOU signings.
In the welfare sector, it achieved excellent results in areas directly related to citizens’ lives, such as discovering welfare blind spots in local governments, achieving elderly job targets, the support rate for childcare services, and efforts to support out-of-school youth. Especially, Gyeongju, which had remained in the bottom ranks for several years, was evaluated to have shown remarkable upward momentum based on close cooperation between the general department, the Policy Planning Officer, and the working departments.
Mayor Joo Nak-young of Gyeongju expressed his joy, saying, "This achievement is the result of all public officials working together with the support of Gyeongju citizens, and we will continue to do our best to provide better administrative services to citizens through proactive administration."
Meanwhile, Gyeongju City has once again proven its excellent administration by achieving the Leap Award in the government joint city and county evaluation following the 2019 Korea Local Autonomy Development Award (Basic Local Government Head category), the 2019 Good Air City Award, and the 2019 Gyeongsangbuk-do Investment Attraction Award.
