Saemangeum Development Agency, Joining Hands to Support Film and Video Production...

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] The Saemangeum Development Agency has joined hands with film and video-related associations to promote the vast natural scenery of Saemangeum.

On the 4th, the Saemangeum Development Agency announced that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Film Producers Association and the Jeonju Film Commission to successfully advance the Saemangeum project and develop the Korean film and video industry.

The day held additional significance as it marked the anniversary of the establishment of Korea's first permanent movie theater, Danseongsa.

The agreement was based on a mutual cooperative understanding that film and video productions set against the natural scenery of Saemangeum would have a positive impact on both the Saemangeum project and the development of the Korean film and video industry.

The main areas of cooperation include ▲ administrative support for film and video production in the Saemangeum area ▲ cooperation in participation in local government projects related to film and video production ▲ promotion of cooperative relations through participation and sponsorship of Saemangeum project promotions and events ▲ matters related to attracting investment for open sets and comprehensive filming studios in the Saemangeum area.

Lee Eun, president of the Korea Film Producers Association, said, “Saemangeum already has well-established natural scenery suitable for on-location shooting due to its vast land area, and if film shooting facilities equipped with indoor studios are established, it could become a unique filming location.”

Park Heungsik, chairman of the Jeonju Film Commission, added, “With the advantages of vast fields and abundant sunlight, if a multipurpose set for special, aerial, and underwater filming that can be used anytime is constructed, it will greatly contribute to the growth of the domestic film industry.”
