Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency Signs Agreement to Strengthen Child Protection System


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency (Director Bae Junyeol and Chief Kang Seonggyu), Jeonnam Central Region Child Protection Agency (Director Yoo Giyong), and Jeonnam Northern Region Child Protection Agency (Director Lim Gwangmuk) announced on the 4th that they have signed a business agreement with the Jeollanam-do Western Financial Counseling Welfare Center to strengthen the child protection system and support financial counseling in Jeollanam-do.


The signing ceremony took place at the Jeollanam-do Western Financial Counseling Welfare Center, with the heads of the Western, Central, and Northern Region Child Protection Agencies in attendance.


Through this business agreement with the Financial Welfare Counseling Center, various welfare services will be provided to ensure the safe growth of abused children and their families within the local community.


Additionally, both organizations agreed to cooperate in exchanging information about abused children and their family members, financial counseling, linking welfare resources, and providing various welfare services, making mutual efforts to strengthen the child protection system.


Kim Jaegul, Director of the Jeollanam-do Western Financial Welfare Counseling Center, stated, “We will actively cooperate to strengthen the child protection system through organic collaboration with child protection agencies in Jeollanam-do, supporting economic independence and resource linkage for vulnerable groups.”


Yoo Giyong, Director of the Jeonnam Central Region Child Protection Agency, said, “Through this agreement, we expect to safely protect abused children and help them grow healthier through inter-agency linkage projects. We will continue to strengthen the local child protection system and expand support for families in need.”


Meanwhile, the Child Protection Agencies were established under Article 45 of the Child Welfare Act (Establishment of Child Protection Agencies) and operate by dividing their jurisdiction into Western, Central, Northern, and Eastern regions within Jeollanam-do.


Furthermore, according to Article 46 of the Child Welfare Act, they intervene in necessary matters such as discovering, protecting, counseling, and treating children who have suffered abuse in the region, carrying out specialized child welfare projects to protect children from abuse and support their healthy growth.
