[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyung] Sunchang-gun Agricultural Technology Center is transferring the medium manufacturing method and cultivation know-how for mass culturing agricultural microorganisms to private companies.

On the 4th, the county held a technology transfer contract signing ceremony at the small conference room on the 2nd floor of the Agricultural Technology Center, attended by county officials and Park Yeonhwa, CEO of Gurubiotics.

The technology pertains to the "medium manufacturing and cultivation know-how for mass culturing Bacillus microorganisms," which is a microbial culture medium manufacturing method optimized to promote crop growth and supply nutrients necessary for crops.

Since 2018, the county has hired a Ph.D. in the field of microorganisms to develop microbial culture media.

As a result, they developed a medium that shows a tenfold increase in viable cell count compared to existing microbial media, and when microorganisms cultured in this medium were tested on chili peppers, growth and fruit weight each increased by 30%.

Additionally, the microbial cultivation know-how is an easy technology that allows farmers to directly mass-culture microorganisms on farms, opening a new chapter in the field of agricultural microorganisms.

The technology recipient, "Gurubiotics," is expected to contribute to the expansion of eco-friendly agriculture by launching various microbial products such as mass microbial culture kits in the future.

Seoltaesong, director of the county Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We believe this technology transfer will greatly contribute to the expansion of eco-friendly agriculture," adding, "We will continue to develop technologies and secure intellectual property rights to prepare for changes in the agricultural environment suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era."
